the modern man

This is what all men appear to me as.

Once a week I am going to dress well.
I will go to a new or beloved old cafe.
I will bring a book and a notebook.
I will just be.

A/W Style Inspiration

I have a great wardrobe that fits my summer style (i.e. easy going vibe with a bohemian flair) but, year after year when the leaves change from green to red to gone with the wind, so does my style. I never feel myself in the clothes I have for winter. I always end up looking quite drab in either boots/sneakers, casual jeans, a plain top, sweatshirt, and coat. That's usually what I end up pulling together, and I think it is because my summer style doesn't easily transition into the winter, so I get lazy as well as uninspired by my closet. So, I've decided to evaluate how I would like to dress in the winter in an attempt to stay stylish and comfortable.

I'm kind of in love with them.
I've been really inspired by menswear lately and would like to incorporate it into my wardrobe,
but with a feminine flair. Blazers with dresses, or girlish skirts, or tight pants.
I've always loved how women look in turtlenecks.
Even though they completely cover you up, the look is still absolutely sexy.
One thing about my style is that I like a hint of sex appeal.
I really like this look in particular because it is exactly what I imagine for the turtleneck,
sexy yet conservative.
Soft Grunge
I really don't like flashy outfits.
Yes I love to look sexy, but I don't like it to be obvious.
Whenever I'm in a flashy outfit I always feel like an idiot, like I'm trying way too hard.
This is why I'm not a fan of going out to clubs or fancy bars,
I hate heels and pretentious people.
I'm more of a gritty bar type of girl where the booze is cheap and the decor is questionable.
So, I think I'm going to keep this image in mind when dressing,
keeping it simple with complimenting silhouettes, cool shoes, and great hair.
Yes, we all love leather this season.
You can't go wrong with leather, especially in the winter.
This is why I love leather right now:
it's not a summer material so it just automatically works in winter,
and it looks sexy no matter how you wear it,
whether it be a leather skirt, shirt, jacket, or what have you, it's fantastic.

Just a touch of plaid and I think we're on the right track :)

So all in all, I think my style for the winter is along the lines of this:
Menswear meets femininity & grunge with structured pieces in dark shades

Bat For Lashes - Daniel

I. am. obsessed.

She knelt beside the flowers
Her palms drenched in rose petals
It was not nor day or night,
But a black and white haze
She had dreams, true ambitions
That flooded her eyes
Came pouring down into a glass like wine
Her energy, original, cold
She pulled her hair back
Away from her face
And then, a light shined
Through the shrubbery
And she followed it
Into the darkness

Malicious threads of blissful
Sounds of sorrowful
Melodies play softly in transparent waves of fresh

Your worldly travels are consumed of stories,
Filled with mischief and deceit, have blossomed off of the
Map that is hung by thumbtacks against my wall become

Although there have been biographies of authors
All too many who are unfortunately unknown of any past loved
Young frat boy studying literature at the near by university

But I have set up a table of granite
Waiting upon your arrival above of all imagery
Your face reflected by my mirror is of utter beauty

Never have I realized of such clear
Thought that has awoken me of presence and
Awareness of what is to be of our route to be but will never be

Ruffle like hair
She wears bow ties
Instead of a gown
To the ball
Because she's a rebel...
Or so she likes to make you think so.

The Indigo Children

Lately I'm really into all colors of blue.
But, there's one blue in particular that has been on my color love radar;
and that color is indigo.
I love feeding off its cool, calming vibes as well as mixing it with turquoise or navy and pairing it with silvery accents.
"Indigo is the color of the deep midnight sky. It can have a negative effect when used during a depressed state, because it will deepen the mood.
Indigo symbolizes a mystical borderland of wisdom, self-mastery and spiritual realization. While blue is the color of communication with others,
indigo turns the blue inward, to increase personal thought, profound insights, and instant understandings. While blue can be fast, Indigo is almost instantaneous. Inventors use indigo skills for inspirations that seem to 'come out of the blue'."
