the modern man

This is what all men appear to me as.

Once a week I am going to dress well.
I will go to a new or beloved old cafe.
I will bring a book and a notebook.
I will just be.

A/W Style Inspiration

I have a great wardrobe that fits my summer style (i.e. easy going vibe with a bohemian flair) but, year after year when the leaves change from green to red to gone with the wind, so does my style. I never feel myself in the clothes I have for winter. I always end up looking quite drab in either boots/sneakers, casual jeans, a plain top, sweatshirt, and coat. That's usually what I end up pulling together, and I think it is because my summer style doesn't easily transition into the winter, so I get lazy as well as uninspired by my closet. So, I've decided to evaluate how I would like to dress in the winter in an attempt to stay stylish and comfortable.

Blazers
I'm kind of in love with them.
I've been really inspired by menswear lately and would like to incorporate it into my wardrobe,
but with a feminine flair. Blazers with dresses, or girlish skirts, or tight pants.
Turtlenecks
I've always loved how women look in turtlenecks.
Even though they completely cover you up, the look is still absolutely sexy.
One thing about my style is that I like a hint of sex appeal.
I really like this look in particular because it is exactly what I imagine for the turtleneck,
sexy yet conservative.
Soft Grunge
I really don't like flashy outfits.
Yes I love to look sexy, but I don't like it to be obvious.
Whenever I'm in a flashy outfit I always feel like an idiot, like I'm trying way too hard.
This is why I'm not a fan of going out to clubs or fancy bars,
I hate heels and pretentious people.
I'm more of a gritty bar type of girl where the booze is cheap and the decor is questionable.
So, I think I'm going to keep this image in mind when dressing,
keeping it simple with complimenting silhouettes, cool shoes, and great hair.
Leather
Yes, we all love leather this season.
You can't go wrong with leather, especially in the winter.
This is why I love leather right now:
it's not a summer material so it just automatically works in winter,
and it looks sexy no matter how you wear it,
whether it be a leather skirt, shirt, jacket, or what have you, it's fantastic.

Plaid
Just a touch of plaid and I think we're on the right track :)

So all in all, I think my style for the winter is along the lines of this:
Menswear meets femininity & grunge with structured pieces in dark shades
